Expedition cruises provide tourists a chance to sail to remote destinations alongside a team of seasoned guides (and in some cases intellectuals) and take part in adventure activities. Entertainment
For us, the combination of plain fun, a really wonderful, engaging staff, the educational excursions, and just seeing a part of the country that was completely new to us, made this a memorable experience. We ended our trip with a New Orleans stay, which really added to all of the above. The guides at the two Civil War battlefields we visited were beyond excellent.

The Mississippi River cruise that we went on in March of 2024 was outstanding. We started in New Orleans and ended up in Memphis. The ship, our room, the crew, the food, the service, the shore excursions, the evening entertainment, the buses and tour guides, lectures, etc. could not have been better. My wife and I signed up for two more cruises based on our experience on this one. We had not been on a river cruise before and we highly recommend American Cruise Lines. Holland America Line offers a wide range of itineraries to various destinations worldwide.
In 2024 it will offer the seven-night Cape Codder itinerary, round-trip from Boston. American Glory will sail on the East Coast and the rest of the fleet will be deployed across the U.S. All of the ships are being constructed by the line's sister shipyard, Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland.
I'm looking forward to another cruise on American. Tried my first cruise with ACL this year, the Lower Mississippi cruise itinerary. The other guests were friendly and interesting.
